World Heritage in Switzerland - A Shared Task

The FOC and the FOEN are in charge of the protection and conservation of the cultural and natural heritage. They advise and provide scientific support to the World Heritage sites and to the candidates.

The Swiss Commission for UNESCO coordinates all stakeholders for a joint promotion of the sites as a whole and raises public awareness of the principles and values of the World Heritage.

The UNESCO Coordination Unit of the FDFA deals with institutional relations at the international level.

Locally, the site managers ensure the safeguarding and promotion of cultural and natural properties, in interaction with the scientific, cultural, political and tourist entities, and in cooperation with the local communities.
